Compression and the Osteotomy Gap

The existence of a clearly visible osteotomy gap by optimal roentgenography even in cases where high compression had been applied is exemplified. One case of fracture of the osteosynthesis material used in a medial displacement osteotomy is illustrated. It is suggested that this and similar accidents are sometimes consequences of imperfect surface contact at the operation, visible only by central beam radiography.Downloads
