The long-term results (12–24 years) of Charnley low-friction arthroplasty performed in 113 hips in 93 patients with a mean age of 45 years, were compared to those achieved in 163 hips in 144 patients with a mean age of 66 years treated with the same procedure. Survivorship analysis showed a 73% prosthesis survival after 17 years in the younger age group and an 86% in the older age group.Downloads
