Most orthopedic surgeons are familiar with the principles of treating proliferative synovial disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, septic arthritis or gout. In patients presenting with intraarticular swelling, the differential diagnosis also includes pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS), a disorder which is uncommon and therefore less well known, and may be difficult to treat.Downloads
